About News Hit

News Hit is an online student publication dedicated to showcasing the work of young writers.

WHAT IS NEWS HIT?

News Hit is a cross-campus online student publication dedicated to helping young and aspiring journalists get their work published and publicised.

The site was created in 2009 by brothers Craig and Daniel Butt at a time when big media organisations and traditional journalism were struggling. With journalists being laid off around the world and the barriers to enter the industry seemingly higher than ever, News Hit was created to give young journalists a chance to hone their skills, build up an online portfolio and create their own opportunities.

The majority of News Hit's contributors, much like its founders, are university students.

With the Australian media landscape currently lacking a viable student-focused platform for journalism, News Hit's enthusiastic team of contributors are establishing a burgeoning online community, a strong social networking presence, a monthly e-newsletter and innovative on-campus advertising. We've even updated our spell chequer- it's better than the old won.

We are always on the lookout for new contributors, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to become involved.
